Following Skylin’s debut, it’s time to make way for the next much-anticipated Sci-Fi adventure, Sol Survivor. Written by Josh Valliere & Fred Packard with breathtaking visuals by Daniel Lopez, Sol Survivor promises to be yet another property fans will adore.
Set in a semi-dystopian future, Sol combines the wonder of Space Opera with the gritty drama of Sci-Fi. The series follows the eponymous Sol, the last Human, in his quest for survival in a wide galaxy filled with unforgettable characters.
The crew of the Chrysalis starship stumble on the last survivor of the human race after he spent years marooned on a desolate planet with only his desire for vengeance to keep him alive.
On the other side of the Universe, Mankind has expanded into territory that was not theirs. The human race is subsequently eradicated by an Intergalactic Empire. Sol Survivor follows the story of Sol in his search for revenge on those that extinguished his people.
Along the way, he falls in with the errant crew of the Chrysalis.
Sol Survivor is planned for a 10-issue run within the first Story Arc. An Art Book is also in the works to showcase the Conceptual design that went into this project. The end goal is a Live Action film.
The Next Generation of Fantasy
Described by its writers, Fred Packard and Josh Valliere, as “Legend of Korra meets Eragon”- Skylin is the first official series by Charon Comics. The story follows the titular character, an ordinary girl, who quickly gets swept up on an adventure that will put her in the middle of an ancient conflict between the Shadow Forces and the Serpen Riders.
Long ago, the six nations fell victim to the ruthless tyranny of the Demon King and his Serpen. He burned all who opposed him and spared few. With little hope for liberation, nobles from each nation journeyed to an ancient floating city where they pleaded to the Spirits for help. Six warriors, one from each nation, were granted a powerful Serpen of their own, which they used to defeat the Demon King.
Many centuries have passed and the tradition continues as the fifty year life cycle of the Serpens will be renewed with a new generation of Serpens and riders. Young nobles from every nation will, once again, travel to the floating city with the hope of leading the world in peace.
Princess Carly, being the only noble of proper age from her nation, has prepared her entire life to become a Serpen Rider. Accompanied by the Royal guard and her handmaiden, Skylin, she sets out on the long road with glory on her mind. However, powerful forces are emerging from the shadows and seek a dark future for the world.
The first Series of Skylin will run for 12 issues. Once they are complete, a Novelization of the entire Series is planned. Also, 4 Deluxe Volumes (3 issues each) with Added Special Content will subsequently be released. A Collected Edition of Series 1 will also be available along with Skylin T- shirts & Merchandise on the Charon Comics website. The end goal is for Skylin to become an Animated Series.
Inspired by the Greek mythological boatman of the dead, Charon Comics leads the way for the next generation of comic entertainment. The publishing house was founded by Fred Packard & Josh Valliere who plan on releasing a plethora of original, genre-specific titles over the next few years. In a world where the 80-year old comic industry has been dominated by superheroes in bright-colored spandex, companies like Charon are a breath of fresh air for those with a more diverse appetite of entertainment.
This philosophy is further strengthened by the company’s status as an independent publisher. While the indie landscape was quite bleak 15-20 years ago; the rise of e-commerce, Social Media, and Digital Publishing has ushered in a new era of Independent Publishing. Charon is able to maintain full creative control over their brands, thus ensuring a unique artistic experience for its readers.
Spearheading this ambitious initiative are Charon’s flagship properties, Skylin and Sol Survivor. Covering High-Fantasy and Space Opera/Sci Fi respectively, both properties offer very different types of entertainment but with the same attention to detail and quality.
